Hello readers! As you all might have heard, the up and coming rapper Mac Miller is performing at Potbelly’s this Saturday (11/19/11). I recently came across this artist this past summer and was instantly hooked on his mix-tape Best Day Ever. Singles like “Wear My Hat” and “Donald Trump” were on perpetual replay for me. With his innovative beats and witty lyrics, Mac Miller’s sure to have you moving. If you can’t get tickets to the concert Saturday (since it’s selling out fast), you should definitely check out Mac’s debut album Blue Slide Park which dropped earlier this month.

The latest make-up trend for Fall/winter of 2011 is nudity. Come to terms with your natural beauty and highlight your features with subtle color. Pull off this natural look by using the right concealers for your complexion and adding iridescent pinks to your color palette. Don’t overpower your eyes by using thick black mascaras. Instead, accentuate your eyes with an eyebrow pencil and create big beautiful eyebrows. And as for lips, nude colors work beautifully or make a statement with sultry red lipstick.

Cold Weather Giving you the Blues?

Never fear! What better than some upbeat tunes to help you battle Jack Frost?

Hey, readers. This post is going to be a bit different than the usual…I’m shifting gears, heading into music territory, and would like to introduce you to a couple of artists that have me hooked this fall.

My music taste tends to change a bit with the seasons. As we move into November, I’ve been getting really into a British artist named Ellie Goulding. You might have heard her perform on Saturday Night Live back in May or heard her song “Starry Eyed” featured on the season finale of MTV’s Awkward. She has an unique voice infused with soul. Her funky beats hint to a techno influence that all combine to make some killer tunes. My current favorite is her cover of the Sam Sparro song “Black and Gold”. She takes the UK dance hit and makes it her own with a different tone and rhythm that’s bound to keep beating in your head all day long.

In the same vein is sister-duo Tegan and Sara. This Canadian pair plan to release a live CD/DVD package on November 15th titled Get Along that includes three different films highlighting several of their tours as well as a live 15 track CD of songs from previous albums such as The Con, Sainthood, and So Jealous. Tegan and Sara’s crooning voices and fun beats are sure to make Get Along a really awesome addition to their discography. My current favorite, however, is a song called “Alligator” from their latest album Sainthood which will also be on Get Along. This tune is super cute and catchy but has authentic emotion embedded in the lyrics.

No matter what genre you prefer, these two artists are ones that I think anybody can enjoy and really get into for the month of November! Check out Tegan and Sara’s “Alligator” below.

DIY: Shredding

With so many unique cuts and styles of t-shirts, you think you have seen it all, right? However, CLUTCH has something COMPLETELY unique and super easy called shredding! All you need are scissors and a pair of hands (which hopefully you all have). In random sections, simply cut the hem off of a t-shirt and pull away the horizontal threads of the fabric, creating a shredded effect.–If that sounded like jibberish, we’ve posted a video tutorial.

Just in time for Halloween, this is a different and affordable way to create your own costume. This would be great to use as an authentic worn effect for a zombie costume or a unique edge for a Rock ‘N Roll outfit. Besides Halloween, it’s just a simple way to stand out and make a shirt that is 100% your own. The process is super easy, but can be a tad time-consuming, so start your project early and spread it out between a couple of days! The video below will show you the finished product and how simple it really is!

The wait is finally over. You’ve seen the Facebook sneak peaks, you’ve been “Clutched” on campus, and now you’ve been invited to the CLUTCH Magazine Fall 2011 Release Party. This week CLUTCH releases our 11^th issue and on Thursday, October 27^th, you’ll find us at the Midtown Filling Station celebrating with DJ Chris Manley—All. Night. Long. We’ll be showering you with gifts practically every hour of the night and if it sounds too good to be true, here’s some proof:

Tired of the limited shopping in Tallahassee? Hate having to take a chance by ordering online? The time has come that Urban Outfitters has heard our cry! This week launches Urban’s Store on Tour, a nomadic shopping experience. Monday October 17th-Thursday October 20th downtown Tally (East College Ave & South Duval Street) will be transformed into a full functioning mobile Urban Outfitters. Two 20-foot refurbished shipping containers filled with frontline: men and women’s apparel, accessories, bags, electronics, and home items will be on sale at the mini store. Come out to do some shopping, or at least browse and beg for Urban to make a permanent residence in our state’s capital!
